Training summary
This Master aims to strengthen and deepen the knowledge acquired during the Bachelor of Hispanic Studies, that is to say, knowledge of Spanish and Hispanic-American literature, arts, language, linguistics, histories and cultures. Its objective is to train students in research with a view to writing a Master's thesis, future registration for a thesis or professionalization in a broader perspective: cultural mediation, heritage management, tourism, and facilitate preparation for teaching competitions.
Training aims
Our first objective is to train students in reflection and research in the field of Hispanicism. To do this, we propose a postcolonial approach to the question of plural and mixed-race identities and the various issues linked to the multicultural character of the Spanish-speaking area (Spain and nineteen Spanish-American countries). We will therefore study the different sources (textual, but also images and audiovisual documents) as discourses of power (domination/submission) and resistance.
This Master develops a comparative approach between Spain and Hispanic America, but also with other trans-oceanic colonial and postcolonial experiences (notably in the Indian Ocean), with the aim of accustoming new generations to students to interdisciplinary work and the construction of transversal knowledge.

Advantages of the training
This is a Master's degree in Hispanic studies which takes advantage of the geographical location and cultural anchoring of the University of Reunion to develop a comparative perspective between Hispanic societies and those of the Indian Ocean.
The teaching team included in this Master's degree is involved in organizing a significant number of scientific activities which seek to motivate and support students in the development of their theses.
This is a Master's degree with a reduced number of students, which contributes to the proximity between students and the teaching staff.
The Hispanic World Master could also serve as a refresher for students wishing to continue preparation for competitive exams.Énational education. This orientation is particularly important in the context of the reform of the Certificate of Aptitude for Second Degree Teaching (CAPES) of Spanish.

Targeted skills
Linguistics: most of the courses offered are taught in Spanish. In addition, this Master offers more specific courses on linguistics such as: sociolinguistics, translation and discourse analysis.
Disciplinary: deepen the knowledge acquired during the Bachelor's degree in the field of civilization, literature and the arts. For example: literature and gender studies, colonial and post-colonial history, artistic interests: texts and images, among others.
Transversal: a transversal approach is guaranteed thanks to the lessons (minors) offered according to the pooling of courses and the intervention of teachers from other disciplines.
Pre-professional: certain teaching units have been designed for introduction to the world of work (internship) and to encourage student participation in practical activities in the field of research.
Digital: this Master requires the use of IT tools in the development of research work.
