History Degree

It is aimed at any student motivated by the idea of ​​studying history.
History is a discipline that allows you to forge an identity and understand the present: current events (political, religious rivalries, wars, etc.) are always understood through knowledge of History.
History students develop during the course of the degree their ability to write, to understand the information given in all its forms (texts, images, advertising, internet pages, works of art, etc.) by exercising a critical mind .

The objective of history training is both to give students a solid historical culture and to provide them with the critical analysis tools that allow them to understand the major issues in the world of yesterday and today. today and tomorrow. A significant part of the teaching aims to offer students precise and varied knowledge on the history and heritage of Reunion Island and the Indian Ocean.
Through the progressive acquisition of fundamental skills specific to the historical discipline and general skills in written and oral communication, and in modern foreign languages, it allows students to become historians capable of integrating professionally and participating in historical research. .

The History Degree is based on very broad lessons, covering the history of humanity from the appearance of writing until today across the entire globe. In addition to fundamental lessons, Teaching Units (UE) in methodology are offered over the three years so that students acquire the tools to understand the past and current world. Cross-curricular and pre-professional courses also give them initial training in archaeology, while License 3 offers a first discovery of research. Finally, the opening to other disciplines via minors allows each student to build their own path according to their projects and a professional internship, in License 3, offers the opportunity to immerse themselves, for a few weeks , in professional life and thus, to prepare the rest of the student's career.

At the end of the three years of training, students will have traveled through the four major periods of history, from Antiquity to the contemporary era, including the Middle Ages and Modern Times, on all continents. (Europe, Africa, Asia and Americas). They will have been familiarized with the study of all traces of the past, whether texts, images or material remains, and will be particularly introduced to archeology and paleography.
Above all, they will have developed their writing skills, their analytical skills and their critical sense and will thus be able to better understand today's world.
