Training summary

This training corresponds to the second (DFGSM2) and third year (DFGSM3) of training in medical sciences in order to obtain a medical practice thesis at the end of the complete cycle.

Training aims

The DFGSM allows you to learn the fundamental bases necessary for approaching pathologies and to learn the semiology of pathologies. With the year of Specific Health Access Pathway (PASS) and the Health Access License (LAS), it forms the first cycle of medical studies and allows you to continue towards the Advanced Training Diploma in Medical Sciences (DFASM). It includes a theoretical part of lectures, the teaching of pathologies during guided courses and a practical approach to medicine through internships.

Advantages of the training

The student will learn the major mechanisms of the human body and create an important background in fundamental sciences. In addition to the theoretical aspects, the practical lessons aim at the pre-professionalization of students (communication with patients, caregivers, clinical reasoning, gestures, diagnostic approach, hospital functioning, liberal functioning, etc.).

Targeted skills

It allows you to acquire the following skills:

  • Provide a significant amount of personal work, to organize and assimilate knowledge in the fields of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry, human sciences, semiology and certain pathologies

  • Know how to be autonomous in your learning and build scientific and clinical reasoning in the field of health

  • Understanding public health issues

Summary of lessons by course

The DFGSM2/3 training has 1566 hours divided into 28 teaching units (EU), including lectures, guided and practical lessons, and simulation lessons. Six semiology courses, including 2 in DFGSM2 and 3 in DFGSM3, are carried out in the departments of the University Hospital Center (CHU) (5 courses) or general medicine practices (1 course), as well as the Health Service.

Lessons in DFGSM2 include:

  • Fundamental bases in medical sciences, pulmonology, cardiology-vascular, cardiology-thoracic, nephrology, infectious diseases (1st part), immunology, hematology, medical English, digital culture + internships (introduction to nursing, simulation, certificate of training in first aid procedures and emergency, semiology).

  • Optional specific EU (cardiology/hematology, pulmonology/nephrology, tutoring)

Lessons in DFGSM3 include:

  • Medical English, health-society-humanity, endocrinology (fundamentals), digestive (fundamentals), dermatology, critical reading of articles, neurology (fundamentals), hepato-gastroenterology and surgical, pathological endocrinology, neurology and neurosurgery, infectious disease (2nd part), digital culture, health service + 3 internships (semiology 1, semiology 2, general medicine practice)

  • Optional specific teaching units (endocrinology/fundamental neurology, hepato-gastroenterology/surgical neurology, tutoring)

The lessons in DFGSM2/3 are also supplemented by training in the prevention of psycho-social risks.
