Training summary

This course is aimed at students wishing to train as mathematics teachers in middle and general high schools.

It offers a set of courses enabling the acquisition and development of professional skills and preparation for external civil service recruitment competitions (Certificate of Aptitude for Second Degree Professorship (CAPES), Certificate of Aptitude for Functions of Private Education (CAFEP) of mathematics) and to train through research in areas relating to education.

Training aims

This course is aimed at students wishing to train as mathematics teachers in middle and general high schools. It offers a set of courses enabling the acquisition and development of professional skills, preparation for external civil service recruitment competitions (CAPES, CAFEP in mathematics) and training through research in areas relating to 'education.

The training is based on an integrative logic linking courses and teaching content. Disciplinary and didactic learning are combined so that students can gradually move from distanced reflection to professional practice.

The mathematics course is structured, like all MEEF courses, around a common core allowing students to access a shared culture specific to the professions of teaching, education and training in the Reunion context.

Advantages of the training

The MEEF Mathematics Master's training at the National Higher Institute of Teaching and Education (INSPE) in Reunion Island has the advantages of allowing students to gradually learn the teaching profession through work-study programs. .e. It offers students a four-semester course, allowing the validation of a national Master MEEF diploma. Recruitment competitions are organized at the end of the second year of the Master's degree.
To become a middle or high school teacher, passing the competitive exam is a mandatory step which requires good knowledge, both practical and theoretical.

Targeted skills

This course leads to acquiring and developing plural skills. The student must in particular be able to:

  • Know the profession of teacher and civil servant of the State

  • Contextualize the knowledge and skills acquired as part of the specific preparation for competitive exams

  • Understand the diversity of school populations and teach one or more disciplines in accordance with middle and high school programs

  • Analyze professional practices

  • Implement a research approach based on a professional question identified on the internship sites

  • Write and defend a professional dissertation.
