Training summary

This training consists of mobilizing multidisciplinary scientific knowledge and teaching skills for physical, sporting or artistic activities (APSA) in particular:

  • assess the resources and specific needs of populations, 

  • and design intervention systems and projects for people with disabilities, and/or aging people, suffering from chronic illnesses, or in social difficulties, for the purposes of prevention, rehabilitation, rehabilitation, reintegration , education and/or social participation.

Training aims

The STAPS APAS License is part of the general training of the STAPS License. This involves offering students training in three stages:

  • first a first year common to all STAPS students (STAPS portal)

  • then, a second year of initiation to APAS (in License 2)

  • then a specialization during the third year (in License 3)


The objective of this training is to prepare professionals whose vocation is to:

  • Participate in project design (identification of the needs of populations concerned by prevention, rehabilitation and integration).   

  • Design and organize intervention programs (assessment of practitioners' capacities with appropriate methodologies, planning the care of people through sequences, sessions and situations, planning conditions for management and administration of programs, control of respect and conformity of programs according to the security conditions of care and the health, physical and moral integrity of people and their interests)   

  • Conduct and evaluate intervention programs (conduct of sequences, sessions and situations which constitute the modalities of the intervention, implementation of the evaluation of the effects of the intervention, activity report and force of proposals in regulation of the care)   

  • Participate in project management (presentation of the program in charge in its context: to practitioners, institutions, managers, partners, families, communication with the public or family and the media in compliance with the rules of ethics and in the interest practitioners)

  • Mobilize multidisciplinary scientific concepts concerning Physical and/or Sports Activities (AP/S), specific motor skills as well as the physical, institutional, social and human environment to analyze the situation of a person of a structure or a project.

  • Use tools and techniques for analyzing a situation relating to physical activity (collection of data using appropriate tools, processing and interpretation of results)

  • Implement theoretical and methodological models to establish a preliminary diagnosis of a situation involving AP/S

  • Develop design, planning and programming elements for the evolution or transformation of a situation relating to AP/S

  • Implement the specific tools and techniques of a project or program linked to AP/S

  • Organize an AP/S session based on an audience and an objective

  •   STAPS License 1 – Individualized course 1:


o As part of this individualized course, the first year of the Bachelor's degree is carried out in the classic way in one year

  • STAPS License 1 – Individualized course 2:


o As part of this individualized course, the first year of the Bachelor's degree is also completed in one year. The particularity of this course consists in the fact that methodological support is added to the lessons. Methodological support is mandatory and takes place throughout the year. Several techniques are presented to students in order to be able to implement good university working methods as early as possible.

  • STAPS License 1 – Individualized course 3:


o As part of this individualized course, the first year of the degree is completed over two years. This path is planned to allow students who need it to reduce the workload per year. The lessons of the first year of the Bachelor's degree are therefore spread over two years rather than just one.

  • License 1 STAPS – Health Access (L.AS – Health Access License):


o Students in this course are intended to follow the courses of the STAPS License as well as the health courses offered by the Health Training and Research Unit (UFR) of the University of Reunion.

o Students enrolled in the Health Access program are eligible to apply for entrance exams to studies in medicine, midwifery, odontology and pharmacy.
