My thesis in 180 seconds: Véronique NOMENJANAHARY and Tatiana BARBAR, qualified for the national semi-final!

These two doctoral students from the University of La Réunion won the first jury prize and the public prize respectively. They will represent Reunion Island during the national semi-final of the “My thesis in 180 seconds” (MT180) competition, in Paris at the end of March.

Three minutes, ten doctoral students, more than 500 people in the large bioclimatic amphitheater of the Moufia campus and thousands of people connected on social networks. 

Friday March 10, for this 8th edition of the popular science competition “My thesis in 180 seconds”, two doctoral students stood out among the ten candidates and will fly to Paris for the national semi-final.

Véronique NOMENJANAHARY, from the Laboratory Plant populations and pests in tropical environments (PVBMT) has won the first prize of the jury with his performance on his thesis “ How can we explain the establishment of the Ralstonia bacteria, responsible for bacterial wilt disease in plants, in the islands of the southwest Indian Ocean?"

Tatiana BARBAR, from the Infectious Processes in Tropical Island Environment laboratory (PIMIT), is working on a thesis whose simplified title is “ How does a bacteria in the intestine of the tiger mosquito limit the transmission of Dengue fever? ? » and wins the public prize and the second jury prize.

It was the eighth edition of the regional final of the MT180 competition that the University of La Réunion organized, with the support of the CNRS and France Université.
