From October 10 to 14, the University of Reunion organized on the Moufia and Tampon campuses for the 7e consecutive time the International Week, which includes #Erasmus days.

This event week under the theme of inclusion and diversity made it possible to highlight international experiences, share information concerning the different exchange programs, but also to bring together local and international students, including of 794 and coming from 58 different countries.

“Opening up to worlds”…

During the 2022-2023 academic year, 103 students fromUniversity of Reunion went on international mobility, evidence of a strong increase after 74 departures during the year 2021-2022.

At the end of the health crisis, during the 2020-2021 academic year, only 50 students had tried the adventure. Encouraged by this positive trend, the University of Reunion has set itself the objective of informing the public as best as possible about their prospects for stays abroad and of showing its attachment to openness to others and their environment by responding to its motto: “opening up to the worlds”.

Labeled “Welcome to France”, the University of Reunion works to ensure a quality and tailor-made welcome to students coming from the four corners of the world: in particular from Europe (Germany, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, etc.) but also from Canada, the United States, Africa, the Indian Ocean Zone, and South Korea, thanks to the various exchange programs it develops (ISEP, BCI, PPI, INHA, “REUNION” Program… ).

...with new mobility programs

Always in search of renewal and innovation, the University of Reunion runs other programs promoting mobility to different areas, including:

  • from the program " Regional Exchange University Indian OceaN” – “REUNION”.
    • This program is supported by the INTERREG V 2014-2020 Operational Program. It allows the financing of the mobility of students and staff of 10 partner establishments from 6 countries of the Indian Ocean (Comoros, Kenya Mauritius, Madagascar, Mozambique, Seychelles), like the ERASMUS + program.
    • The Program, launched since January 2021, has attracted strong interest, allowing the allocation of 80 mobilities in total (including 58 for students and 22 for staff). Welcoming 21 students for this 2022-2023 academic year, “REUNION” has become an essential mobility program on a regional scale.
  • du Cross mobility program with South Africa (University of Kwazulu Natal). 
    • This program is initiated by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in order to strengthen mobility and exchanges between the African continent and France. It aims to contribute to the scientific advancement of both countries by funding short-term exchanges of graduate students in 4 areas of mutual interest in order to acquire in-depth knowledge in their areas of research.
    • The experiment carried out in 2022 by the University in partnership with the University of Kwazulu Natal (UKZN) will allow 10 students (5 from each university) to complete a recognized semester of university studies in each of the host establishments. in the original establishment.

#ERASMUSDAYS against a backdrop of diversity and sustainability

Involved in the ERASMUS + program (formerly ERASMUS) for more than thirty years, the university already has 2021 disciplinary agreements with 27 European establishments for the next period 214-123, a symbol of its commitment to Europe .

Beyond partnerships within the framework of the ERASMUS + Program, allowing mobility of students and staff, the University of Reunion also aims to strengthen the partnership with certain establishments, through the signing of framework cooperation agreements. These approaches open up new possibilities for scientific and research cooperation, such as joint project management or joint supervision of theses.

This is the case with the University of Szeged, in Hungary, particularly in the fields of Agri-food or Health, with which the establishment signed its framework agreement today, in the presence of Mr. Rector and Mrs. Chancellor of the University of Szeged, and Madam Deputy Head of Mission of the Hungarian Embassy in Paris.

35 years of the Erasmus + program

stronge of its new ERASMUS + accreditation for the period 2021-2027, the establishment celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Program through #ErasmusDays on October 13 and 14 as part of its International Week.

For this new edition, the theme “inclusion and diversity” was highlighted through various activities organized during the week:

  • Linguistic and cultural workshops dedicated to students wishing to actively prepare for their stay abroad by asking specific questions about the different target countries.
  • The “Village du Monde” which offers meetings between international and local students as part of the sponsorship program called “Buddy System” (currently with 184 members)
  • fun and interactive quizzes and activities to encourage those who lack self-confidence to dare to try the experience of mobility (Intercultural Gathering).
  • The “Draw me Europe” event, bringing together students by creating a map of Europe together, with the transmission of the message: » We are the actors for the creation of a united Europe, together, regardless of differences… ”
