Université de La Réunion is a meeting place for knowledge dissemination and different cultures, and welcomes nearly one thousand international students annually.
A vector of dynamism and openness to the world, the development of partnerships with foreign universities represents one of the University’s strengths. Different exchange programmes, ERASMUS, BCI, PPI, ISEP and REUNION already link it to European, Quebec, American and Indian Ocean universities. Interinstitutional agreements exist with partner universities in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Studying at the University of Reunion Island is a chance to discover Reunionese society and culture, but also to meet students from over 50 nationalities.
Université de La Réunion attaches much importance to welcoming international students. The International Relations Office supports the students in preparing their stay. They then welcome them at the airport, and assist them in all their arrangements, from university enrolment to opening a bank account.
Meanwhile around a hundred Reunionese students go abroad every year to acquire new knowledge and perfect their proficiency in a foreign language.

ERASMUS is one of the most popular student exchange programmes in the world. With the ERASMUS programme we welcome students from all the European countries for various courses. This programme is for undergraduate and graduate students who are looking for a one-semester or one-year study or internship mobility in a foreign country. Students who are eager to study at the Université de La Réunion must contact their own universities to check their eligibility for the programme.
Université de La Réunion is working hand in hand with 154 U.S. based universities and 2 Porto Rican universities in the ISEP programme. The students must apply for the programme through their respective universities. All the ISEP students who arrive at the Université de La Réunion get to enjoy free accommodation and pocket money during their stay. Université de La Réunion works in partnership with Quebec universities in welcoming Canadian students to Reunion Island for undergraduate and post graduate courses.
PPI exchange programme is designed for the students from the University of Laval in Quebec. The faculty of science at the Université de La Réunion welcomes the PPI students for further studies in Biology.
The South Korean exchange programme is for the students from the University of Inha in South Korea. Université de La Réunion welcomes the students according to the current agreement with the University of Inha for various courses. The direct applicants can be categorised into three different groups:
If you are not a citizen of the EU or the European Economic Area, you must obtain a student long-stay visa (one year with “STUDENT status”) before leaving your country and whatever the degree required. The request must be made to the French consulate in your country of residence.
No registration will be made for a student with a “TOURIST VISA” or “VISA for professional competency exam”.
Students must sit for a French language test to prove their French language skills organised by the French consulate or the embassy or FEI La Reunion in February every year. For more details please visit the FEI web site on https://www.france-education-international.fr
