Université de La Réunion is a meeting place for knowledge dissemination and different cultures, and welcomes nearly one thousand international students annually.

A vector of dynamism and openness to the world, the development of partnerships with foreign universities represents one of the University’s strengths. Different exchange programmes, ERASMUS, BCI, PPI, ISEP and REUNION already link it to European, Quebec, American and Indian Ocean universities. Interinstitutional agreements exist with partner universities in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Studying at the University of Reunion Island is a chance to discover Reunionese society and culture, but also to meet students from over 50 nationalities.

Université de La Réunion attaches much importance to welcoming international students. The International Relations Office supports the students in preparing their stay. They then welcome them at the airport, and assist them in all their arrangements, from university enrolment to opening a bank account.

Meanwhile around a hundred Reunionese students go abroad every year to acquire new knowledge and perfect their proficiency in a foreign language.

Université de La Réunion also has numerous research partnerships with foreign universities.

ERASMUS Programme

ERASMUS is one of the most popular student exchange programmes in the world. With the ERASMUS programme we welcome students from all the European countries for various courses. This programme is for undergraduate and graduate students who are looking for a one-semester or one-year study or internship mobility in a foreign country. Students who are eager to study at the Université de La Réunion must contact their own universities to check their eligibility for the programme.

ISEP

Université de La Réunion is working hand in hand with 154 U.S. based universities and 2 Porto Rican universities in the ISEP programme. The students must apply for the programme through their respective universities. All the ISEP students who arrive at the Université de La Réunion get to enjoy free accommodation and pocket money during their stay. BCI programme

Université de La Réunion works in partnership with Quebec universities in welcoming Canadian students to Reunion Island for undergraduate and post graduate courses.

PPI Programs

PPI exchange programme is designed for the students from the University of Laval in Quebec. The faculty of science at the Université de La Réunion welcomes the PPI students for further studies in Biology.

South Korean exchange programme

The South Korean exchange programme is for the students from the University of Inha in South Korea. Université de La Réunion welcomes the students according to the current agreement with the University of Inha for various courses. Direct applications

The direct applicants can be categorised into three different groups:

  • Students who passed their baccalaureate in a French high school
  • Students from the European Union or the European Economic Area
  • Students from outside the European Union or the European Economic Area

If you are not a citizen of the EU or the European Economic Area, you must obtain a student long-stay visa (one year with “STUDENT status”) before leaving your country and whatever the degree required. The request must be made to the French consulate in your country of residence.

No registration will be made for a student with a “TOURIST VISA” or “VISA for professional competency exam”.

Language test

Students must sit for a French language test to prove their French language skills organised by the French consulate or the embassy or FEI La Reunion in February every year. For more details please visit the FEI web site on https://www.france-education-international.fr

Are exempted from the language test :

  • Candidates whose country of residence considers French as an official language and the school education is entirely carried out in French.
  • Foreign students from French bilingual sections appear on a list drawn up jointly by the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs.
  • Holders of DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) or new degrees DALF C1 and / or C2.
  • Candidates who passed the French evaluation test-TEF (Test d’évaluation du Français), organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris, and obtained at least 14 /20 in the written test.

  • The students who passed their BAC from a French high school must follow the “Admission postbac” procedure. For more information please visit the website on www.admission-postbac.fr.
  • The students from the European Union or the European Economic Area or French students who hold foreign high school degrees come under the “Procédure de Validation des Etudes”. They must validate there qualification by sending there certificates to the University of La Reunion between April and May every year.
  • Foreign high school graduates (excluding citizens of the European Union or the European Economic Area) are subject to a mandatory pre-admission process in a French university (DAP procedure). This also concerns the 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students from Non EU foreign universities.
    • The students from countries which work in partnership with “Campus France” must complete the CEF (Centre pour les Etudes en France) procedure. The students must apply for (DAP- demande d’admission préalable) via the CEF website using the country name.campusfrance.org for an example www.madagascar.campusfrance.org.
    • The students from countries which do not work with Campus France must submit there preliminary application forms also known as the “Dossier blanc” through the French embassy or the consulate of the country of residence. For more information please visit www.education.gouv.fr.
  • If you are already residing in France for at least one year, with a residence permit valid for at least one year you can demand the DAP also known as “Dossier vert” from the Registrar’s Office at the university or through internet by using the following link: http://www.enseignementsup-recherche.gouv.fr/pid24665/etudier-en-europe-et-dans-le-monde.html.
  • IMPORTANT: To be eligible, the official stamp of the embassy, consulate or university must appear on the first page of the DAP application form (“Dossier blanc” or “Dossier vert”).

  • If your country of residence has a partnership with Campus France, you must make an online request for pre-registration using the country name.campusfrance.org for an example www.madagascar.campusfrance.org.
  • If your country of residence does not have a partnership with Campus France, you must download the file “Validation des Etudes et Acquis Personnels et Professionnels” on the website of the University of La Reunion (http://scolarite.univ-reunion.fr/validation-des-acquis/) or by email: dsve@univ-reunion.fr during the period from April to May of each year.
  • For subscription at the IAE (Institut d’Administration des Entreprises), must make a written request addressed to the Institute of Business Administration (IAE) 24-26 Victory Avenue – 97715 Saint- Denis Messag Cedex 9 , France – iae[at]univ-reunion.fr or visit the website: https://www.iae-reunion.fr.

The candidate will be notified personally by the University.

  • If your country of residence has a partnership with Campus France, you must make your request for pre-registration on line using the country name.campusfrance.org for an example www.madagascar.campusfrance.org.
  • If your country of residence does not have a partnership with Campus France, you must send a letter, accompanied by a large prepaid envelope (21×29,7 cm) with your name, address and a postage fees worth 5.60 Euros (this amount may change over time) and must be addressed directly to the faculty of the training involved in the preparation of the diploma (same address as that of the University) . Student applications under go a pre-selection by the Education Committee. This application is to be made in the month of May and no later than mid- June each year (excluding Campus France).
