The Student Life Observatory is a public study and research organization which aims to provide statistical information on the living conditions of students and their relationship to studies, in order to inform political and social reflections.

The Student Life Observatory was created, on a national level, by the decree of February 14, 1989. Relaunched in 2014-2015 at the University of Reunion, the OVE is a tool for better knowledge of the student public. It was drawn up with a view to informing the user and advising the orientations of the establishment in matters of Student Life and is an integral part of the PVU (Pôle de la Vie Universitaire) of the University of Reunion.

OVE, an actor in helping with reflection

The Observatory is not limited to a simple observation of Student Life and its functioning: It also carries the desire to act for the well-being of the student condition. Thus, based on findings, the Observatory can inform, raise awareness and make people think. It is intended to search for data and provide information, both on a communication mission towards users and on a decision-making orientation plan.

  OVE, a broadcaster

Through its task of ensuring the dissemination of data, the OVE aims to be a true centralizing agent of statistical and qualitative information relating to Student Life at the University of Reunion. In order to disseminate information, public meetings are set up for public restitution of survey results.

  OVE, player in Student Life

As part of partnerships with different services or with collaborators external to the university network, the OVE is required to take part in information, awareness or prevention actions among students.

These actions are therefore put in place regularly to respond to students' expectations and various questions, or to clarify points with them on themes identified during surveys. These are subjects relating to the daily lives of students, areas on which there is room for improvement. Peer information/prevention work is envisaged in order to put the student at the heart of these remediation and information approaches, working for the well-being of the university community.

Observe situations with a view to acting to improve daily life

Having a Student Life Observatory is an opportunity to be able to make a diagnosis, analyze, and try to understand the issues and mechanisms specific to Student Life, within the University of La Réunion.

The OVE is part of a proactive mission with multiple sides: It involves connecting partners in order to collect or produce data, both to inform the public, but also to enable the drawing up of findings. on the establishment's policy on Student Life. The OVE is a force for evaluation, inventory and carries the desire to optimize the daily lives of students.

With a view to capitalizing on information, and with a view to making data accessible to as many people as possible, these internet pages are at your disposal both to follow our activity, to download data (thematic files, results of surveys, archives) but also to exchange with the observatory around Student Life: The OVE aims to be a privileged place for receiving all your suggestions.
