Presidential team

The presidential team is composed of the president of the university, the president of the academic council, the vice-presidents of the board of directors, the student vice-president, the deputy vice-presidents, project managers and the chief of staff .

The president of the academic council, the vice-presidents of the board of directors and the deputy vice-presidents have signed a mission letter in which they undertake to share the values held by the presidential team (benevolence, respect, loyalty and ethics), to adhere to and contribute to the proposed mandate presented and to guarantee the absence of conflicts of interest.

First Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors

Dr Dominique MORAU

After a doctorate in Mechanics–Environment obtained in 2006, Mr. Dominique MORAU joined the University of La Réunion as a temporary teaching and research associate within the Civil Engineering department of the IUT of La Réunion. He became a lecturer in 2009 within the Human and Environmental Sciences UFR and served as Director of the Department of Building and Environmental Sciences (SBE) from 2012 to 2014 before taking charge of the component from 2015 to 2020. Its teaching activities are linked to the treatment and energy recovery of waste and the research themes it covers relate to the energy transition through multi-sector approaches to energy production from waste in restricted spaces.

Dominique MORAU has held the Presidency of the University of La Réunion as 1st Vice-President of the Board of Directors since October 6, 2023.

President of the Academic Council

Professor Gilles LAJOIE

After a career at the University of Rouen and the CNRS, Gilles LAJOIE held the position of VP CEVU of our University from 2002 to 2005. Promoted to University Professor in geography in 2008, he was appointed Regional Delegate for Research and Technology (D2RT) and held this position until 2015, notably ensuring the management of budgets devoted to research and technology transfer on behalf of the State within the framework of the CPER.

On behalf of the State-Region-Department partnership, it also played the role of instructor service for European FEDER funds devoted to these themes in close coordination with the CPER.

Between 2014 and 2017, he sat on the CESER in Reunion Island where he represented major research organizations.

Advisor to the CCEE of La Réunion since January 2018, member of the board of directors of the IRD in 2019, he was elected in 2016 as President of the academic council of the University of La Réunion, he was re-elected on January 28, 2021 .

Director of the presidential office

Stéphane MAILLOT

Appointed to this position since February 1, 2021, Mr. MAILLOT is the first collaborator of the President of the University. He is responsible for assisting him on all strategic issues of the establishment, he ensures a permanent promotion of political action and participates fully in the implementation of the establishment project at the service of the university community.
